I have been married to Nigel for 21 years. We have a crazy yorkie called Trixie and goldfish Wallace and Grommet. I love doing charity work, socialising with friends, meals out and bike rides. I am a qualified Dental Nurse then became a practice manager of the surgery I was working at. I left dentistry to work with my husband as his book keeper. Having worked for a corporate funeral company for 2 years, I became increasingly disillusioned with the company ethos, care for the families and their loved ones. So I was faced with the dilemma, stay because I had truly fallen in love with the job but not the company or leave. On 29th September 2021, I handed in my notice and decided to follow my dream, this was to open my own funeral home, providing the care and support that families need and giving loved ones the care they so rightly deserved. We found a building and 3 months of hard work began, there was laughter and a lots of tears, then the self doubts as to whether I’d done the right thing, we finally opened on the 4th January 2022.
Why RH Faulkner & Daughter, this is in memory of my parents Rose and Harry, yep I’m the Daughter. I had a clear vision of the service I wanted to provide to families. It will be Loz and I who bring your loved one into care, no matter what time it is, we help and guide you to arrange a perfect farewell to your loved one and will be with you as you say your final goodbyes. Loz and I are humbled, privileged and honoured that so many amazing families have entrusted us to care for their loved ones.
We are proud to be voted one of the top 6 best funeral directors in the country by the Good Funeral Guide.
Since the 4th of January 2022 I have been working at RH Faulkner & Daughter Funeral Services as a Funeral Operative. I was born in Glasgow and at the young age of twenty, I moved to England.
A few years prior before returning to work I was very keen to get a part time job as my children were getting older and self- sufficient. I needed something for myself, to fill my time . I blame Paula for getting me into the Funeral business as we have been Friends for thirteen years, after meeting at our local pub. So when she had mentioned to me that she was setting up her own business in the funeral profession, I was very intrigued. I asked Paula if there would be any part time positions, when Paula asked me what I was interested in doing within the company, I immediately said the care hub. What I love about my job is the fact that I am the first person to bring loved ones into our care, I am the one who looks after them throughout their time at our care hub. Other jobs include lining and dressing their forever beds with bows or whatever the family desire, driving the hearse and bearing on the day of the funeral.
It gives me great pleasure to know that I am with the deceased from the first moment of into care to the end of their final journey at RH Faulkner & Daughter
